I haven’t posted in like 2 weeks….
Holy crap I am a shitty blogger…..
A week and a half ago I sat down one evening to attempt to post about something or another that I normally ramble about, however I was unable to get to this site. After talking with my provider we came to the conclusion that my server was dead, the data was intact, but the server was going to be no more. A new server was installed, and over the next four days I spent restoring and moving this site to a new system, in between fighting off a sinus infection that just wouldn’t die.
But I am back…got the site running great again, but am still pouring out drivel…but that’s neither here or there…let’s get on with the story.
Since my beautiful Canadian wife (aka Monk) flew to visit the strip bar perform some repairs to the house that would be best done with her out of the house. The kitchen sink and faucet have needed a major overhaul since we moved in 6 years ago. I have never placed it high on the list since it worked just fine, it was just ugly and we had many other things in this house that needed to be done. I had planned on not mentioning anything to her, until I saw the sink and faucet choices at the local home repair warehouses, and I knew my wife would need to choose colors or patterns or something that women are so fond of picking out.
So before she left she we picked out the new sink and faucet that I would spending the next 2-7 days installing. I was in no hurry to start or finish my project, only knowing that it had to be done before my wife returned. While she flew out on Thursday and we had purchased said items on Wednesday, I didn’t even bother to take them out of my car until this last Saturday. So when I woke up Saturday morning, my plan for the day was to simply clean out the stuff under the sink, take a 6 hour nap and maybe start planning on what was next. I also thought that it would be a good idea to carry in the stuff in my trunk since I would need to a place to put food when I ran out of soy corn dogs and chocolate milk.
So after clearing out all the odd cleaning bottles from under the sink I carried in the new sink and faucet. Due to space, or the lack there of, I placed the new sink on top of the stove. I grabbed the new faucet set, opened it and started looking at all the parts. Since Ninja Warrior was on TV, I moved the parts into the living room and started watching the show.
After a few minutes I noticed that that there was an odd burning smell and thought that it was wierd that the neighbors were burning something at this time of year. I thought maybe they had busted out the Bar-B-Que pit for some odd Irish tradition but dismissed the thought when something ninja-like caught my eye on TV. After a few more minute I went into the kitchen to see if I could figure out what the hell the neighbors where doing when I noticed a bit of smoke from the stove. Pulling the new, still in it’s box sink from the stove, I noticed that when placing it there I inadvertently had turn on one of the burners.
Luckily a minor kitchen fire was the only bad thing that happened that day. I went ahead and finished the sink in one day as not to press my luck, getting everything done by about 5:30 that evening. Never did find out what the neighbors where up too…
